Purpose And Benefits:

White Spot Cure is a medication for the treatment of freshwater ich (Ichthyophthirius) and other external parasites including Trichodina, Chilodonella, and Oodinium (velvet). Clinical symptoms for ich include visible white spots on fins, body, and eyes, scratching against objects in the aquarium and flashing or rubbing on the aquarium gravel. Velvet appears as a fine yellow dust on the fish. Most external parasites are too small to be seen without a microscope. With the exception of ich and velvet, often the only symptoms are labored breathing and lethargy. Positive identification can only be made after a detailed microscopic examination of the fish's gills, skin, and fins. These symptoms can be caused by a variety of factors including poor water quality, fighting, rough handling and over-crowding in addition to actual disease pathogens. Be sure to maintain proper water quality and a suitable aquatic environment for your fish.

Directions For Use:

For best results, remove activated carbon and continue aeration. Add one teaspoonful (5 ml) for every 5 U.S. gallons (19L) of aquarium water. Repeat dose after 48 hours. Wait another 48 hours, then change 25% of the water and add new activated carbon. Treatment may be repeated if necessary. Raising the water temperature to 82ºF (28ºC) speeds up the life cycle of the parasite and may hasten the treatment process.

For tropical fish use only. Do not use on fish intended for human consumption.

Compatibility:

White Spot Cure contains malachite green and will cause a blue color in the aquarium. Some silicone sealers used to manufacture aquariums and porous ornaments may be stained by malachite green. White Spot Cure may stain hands, clothing and carpet.

Some scaleless fish are sensitive to malachite green. Use ½ dose when scaleless fish are present in the aquarium. White Spot Cure may be used in saltwater aquariums to treat saltwater ich Cryptocaryon and marine velvet Amyloodinium.
